Tim Wilson
Tim Wilson has been Chief Technology Officer for ISD 279 â Osseo Area Schools since 2008. Before becoming one of the first CTOs in Minnesota, Tim was Director of Technology for Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Schools, Technology Integration Specialist for the Hopkins School District, and a physics and chemistry teacher at Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, MN. A lifelong technology enthusiast, Tim began his technology career while teaching high school when he organized a group of students and colleagues to build the first network in the science department. He soon became the school district’s webmaster and started an introductory computer programming course. When he learned of an opportunity to help teachers learn how to use technology to improve instruction Tim left the classroom behind and began a new career in technology leadership.
In his job with the Osseo School District, Tim has the privilege of leading a team of 75 staff in the fifth largest school district in Minnesota. Under his leadership, Osseo has created the first Kâ12 professional development program in the country to receive ISTE’s National Education Technology Standards for Teachers seal of alignment. The school district is in its third year of Project Copernicus, a program which encourages students to bring their own technology to school. When not dreaming up technology projects that cause his staff to run the other way when they see him coming, Tim enjoys traveling with his wife and two boys, photography, and running marathons.
